Summer hydration hacks: Iodised Sea Salt Electrolyte Popsicles

Summers seem to be getting more exhausting with each passing year, don’t they?

The heat is intolerable, the days seem to be longer and staying refreshed and hydrated has become a chore.

The summers don’t seem like they will get kinder, so it’s up to you to make the right choices for your body. When the heat is relentless, plain water gets a bit boring, and the carbonated soft drinks are going to catch up with you in the long run.

So, here is a quick, tasty trick to help you with the task of hydration. Electrolyte popsicles!

A treat that’s good for your body.

You aren’t just savouring something cool and fruity, you’re helping your body stay hydrated and balanced.

What are electrolytes, and why must you choose them instead of a creamy milk-based ice cream?

In this scorching heat, electrolytes become a soothing fuel for your body. They help move nutrients into cells, remove waste, stabilise blood pressure, and regulate heart rate and nerve function.

Now, when you add them to popsicles, you make a treat with medicinal benefits. It is one of those rare snacks that deserves a place in your meal prep because it’s truly a two-in-one.

Now, to make an electrolyte popsicle right, you need to choose the right salt.

Like our Table Top Iodised Sea Salt, it contains a high concentration of minerals that support fluid balance and overall wellness. For those mindful of blood pressure, our low sodium salt option works beautifully, too.

The recipe is flexible. There is no right way to do it, follow the base rules and alter based on your needs and preferences.

Let’s get started!

Ingredients :
Fruit of your choice (Pick seasonal fruit like watermelon, ice-apples, grapes, mangoes. Seasonal fruits are packed with nutrients your body needs for the harsh climate)
● Coconut water
● Lemon/Orange juice
● Honey
● Electrolyte Powder of your choice
● Any healthy organic salt (If you want the best, check out the options we offer at Table Top)
● Optional but recommended: Ginger and mint.

    • Optional but recommended: Ginger and mint.
Recipe

● Chop your fruit into small bite-sized chunks. You could also use fruit pulp, but having little pieces makes the treat more enjoyable.

● The coconut water is your base, adjust the quantity as per your needs.

● Add a squeeze of lemon or even a splash of orange juice, something citrusy to bring in a tangy punch.

● Stir in a little honey for natural sweetness.

● Now add a big pinch of any pure healthy salt and your electrolyte powder. (Even if you skip the powder, it’s alright, as salt also performs a similar function. The powder just enhances the hydration benefit.)

● For an optional flavour boost, add a little grated ginger and a few mint leaves.

● Mix everything well and pour the mixture into moulds of your choice. If you don’t have silicone moulds, paper cups, or even steel glasses work well. Just place a spoon or a stick in the centre.

● Freeze for about 4 to 6 hours.

● When ready, dip the mould briefly in warm water to loosen the popsicle and enjoy.

● Make a big batch and store it for a refreshing treat whenever your body needs it.
The salt you choose can completely change the flavour. For example, Himalayan salt brings a slightly earthy note, while sun dried salt has a lighter taste. With Table Top’s range of natural salts, you have plenty of choice. Experiment and discover what you enjoy most. Hoping this recipe makes your summer a little easier.
